I am still in shock. I have just recently started the process of repairing my husbands credit. A couple days ago I read about people writing goodwill letters for paid CO's or late pays etc. I thought that I would try the route with my unpaid CO in hopes that they would just give me a really low PFD.
I wrote to a Chase Bank executive via email two days ago and yesterday I received a call from their "Executive Offices" customer care. The nice young lady proceeded to tell me that after reviewing our account she was able to remove all finance charges, late fees etc and that though we were willing to pay there was no need to. She stated that she has already put in the request for the unpaid CO to be deleted from all three CB's and the real kicker is that she then lets me know that they are sending us a check for $51.00 that we "overpaid" per her words! I cried and thanked her. I was not even expecting to get a reply and definitely never expected for them to delete an unpaid CO and pay US money!
This account has been charged off since some time in early 2008 in the amount of $1,049. I am now sending the same email to Sears in hope of some relief of any form but definitely understand that this will likely never happen again. Did I mention that I am ecstatic

!
All I can say is if you don't try you will never know.
