If he disputes a charge-off that was say, 2 years old, with the any of the credit bureaus(CRA's), his chances of getting it removed are slim, as the CRA will just validate it with the original creditor. Sure there's chance the original creditor may not respond to the CRA if that's what you're getting at.

You can dispute it no matter how old it is. That's usually the most powerful way to get a charge off removed. The best way to do it is in writing.
