In reference to inquiries not attached to any tradelines, I started out with 2 with Equifax, 4 with TransUnion and 8 with Experian. With this round of disputes, I received the quickest responses from each CRA. All I had to write was, "To whom it may concern, the following inquiries are inaccurate, please verify or delete them as soon as possible. Thank you. (list companies)" After about two weeks, I received letters from both Equifax and TransUnion. Neither of them included a free credit report. Equifax deleted the two inquiries, no questions asked. Transunion responded with a letter saying that all inquiries remain on my credit report for 2 years and if I do not believe the companies had permissible purpose, then I am to contact each one in writing. The next day, I received a response from Experian. Their response goes along the lines with what TransUnion said, except they decided to mention that federal law requires that my credit report must list all organizations that have requested my credit history and that they are to remain on my credit report for two years. Surprisingly, they decided to include a full credit file. |

Well, at least you got them off of EQ! I've heard that getting inquiries off by disputing them is not easy. Yeah.....if you don't think they had permissible purpose, you can send them a non PP letter. Otherwise.......bumpage would be the only other way (and I don't even know if that works anymore). |

Scorch, I didn't realize you could dispute inquiries online with EQ..... I tried it about a week or so ago........they deleted EVERY SINGLE ONE that I disputed! Holy cow! I disputed like 7 or 8. I don't usually like to dispute online because it's all automated.......but for inquiries I thought.........what the hell. I honestly did not think they would delete all of them.

Trick I have learned. As soon as an INQ' shows up in EQ dispute it, don't wait! This way they delete INQ's even if you are approved and the account actually shows up on your report eventually! |
