Default Consolidation credit question

Say you have two loans with National Student Loan that are in default.

Say you consolidate & now have your two loans with Direct Loans.

When do the previous loans go off your credit? Do the lenders report them as "Paid" and I am stuck with them for 7 years from today because there was activity on the account?

Or does it say "transferred" or "Sold" or something like that?

I sure hope they don't list them as paid or don't update them at all...because the DOFD is 2/2006 on both and 2/2013 is a lot better than 7 years from today

Has anyone had any success removing a paid student loan?

So you can consolidate student loans that are in default? I would say now that you no longer own NSL the money you should send them a good will letter which basically asks them nicely to remove the negative item. I am pretty sure it costs them money to report the item so why not try? If they don't want to remove it, send a letter to credit bureaus and dispute it.

Yeah you can most definately consolidate defaulted student loans!

Well good news!!

I have removed 2 PAID student loans! I just kept disputing until they finally removed them from all three. One at a time. I was really worried that they would remain on Equifax, because thats who my credit union runs credit checks through.

First TU deleted them, then EXP, then EQ.

VICTORY!!

Now I just have Sallie Mae, but those are really old and are coming off in less than a year anyways... One of them seems to be reporting inaccurately, listing the DOFD wrong keeping it on there an extra year(2/2013). Im waiting to hear back on that one. I sure hope they just get tired of me and delte this crap. I mean comon I was like 18 and had no idea what the hell a student loan was all about lol...remove it already guys! Besides, Sallie got their claim paid, and Im now paying it back at 200% of the original loan amount, I mean what more do they want??? lol
