Can you use a US Stafford Loan to go to college in Canada?

It depends. Generally, the answer is "no" if the school in Canada is the only one you attend. If your "home" institution is in the U.S. and the college in Canada is simply one at which you are taking classes for s short time (like study abroad), it's possible, though a little complicated.To get technical, the regulations state that "A student enrolled in a program of study abroad is eligible to receive title IV, HEA program assistance if (a) The student remains enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program at an eligible institution during his or her program of study abroad; and (b) The eligible institution approves the program of study abroad for academic credit. However, the study abroad program need not be required as part of the student's eligible degree program."(Of course, if you aren't a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, you can't get Stafford Loan in the first place.)
