Default Student Loan weirdness

I have four different companies reporting a student loan for me. Now I was only in school for a year and a half so I know there isn't a boatload of debt. Now they started out with the school and are showing paid, I consolidated with Sallie Mae, one loan is showing paid, the other is showing a CO/debt transferred. Now two other companies are showing up for roughly the same amount. I can't get the paper trail to match up at all, I am not talking months differences but like a year or so. The most current is from USA funds which I have no knowledge of or maybe my memory is shot but I don't remember transferring it.

Should I just go ahead and dispute them all with the CRA first and then see where to go from there? I just have no idea what is really mine or not...

Yes......I would just dispute them all. Then IF any come back verified, you may have to go directly to the furnisher of information.

If that first one (the original one with the school name reporting as paid) is reporting as a positive then of course just leave that one alone.

Thanks! Yeah the first one I am not going to mess with but the others just aren't making sense to me!

So I've been thinking about this a little more. Am I going to shoot myself in the foot if I dispute them all since student loans have no SOL?

I don't see how if the companies don't have the right to report the debt...

Just know that if one of them truly does have the right to report it.........they may start sending you collection letters.

If you do dispute them sometimes they just wander off and bother someone else. One hint always refer to it as an alleged debt never really admit its yours unless your under oath in a court room chances are its been passed around because they don't really think they can collect anything.
