Default Student loan help?

I have a friend who is 24, works at Food Lion, and wants to go back to school. He graduated high school, but he never took the SATs and right now he's short on cash. Are there any kinds of loans he can get/help getting back into school?

Lots of them...and most colleges have a Financial Aid Department that will walk him through every step of the process to get it done.

here in canada, we get student loans that pay our tution and our living expenses, I think they all do that. You can also work on the side up to such a dollar amount if you want

If he joins the navy i think he gets like $30,000. It's not like he'll be fighting now. None of the wars now are at sea.

Your friend should go to the financial office at the college he plans to attend. They are sure to help him out and give him various informarion on organizations that are willing to help.

have him fill out a FAFSA. It's free aid for students. He will be able to get a lot of money, because it's based on your taxes and need. If he can't get scholarship money, then he will be eligible for federal loans - which are lower interest and can be deferred until after graduation. Also, I would recommend him filling out a profile on Fastweb.com - this has a ton of scholarships he can apply to. Also, most colleges offer a lot of different types of scholarships. Have him talk to the financial aid department to see if he is eligible for any. Having the FAFSA filled out will help him for these scholarships too, usually.

I say he applys for Federal Financial Aid. Nothing is wrong with getting student loans. Plus, if he is independant he could even get grants (money you don't have to pay back) I got $3100.00 in grants for school and its awesome! Being poor rocks. Go to http://www.fafsa.com also- I never took the SATs either... he probably will need to take the ACTs though. Its a process, but ya just gotta do it!

He needs to fill out a FAFSA on the web asap and at the end of the application he can choose the school(s) that he plans on attending. That information is sent directly to the schools. He should then apply to the school that he wants to attend upon completing the FAFSA. If he is wanting to go back to school in the spring he needs to fill one out for the 2007-2008 school season. He should have his 2006 tax statements on hand when filling them out. Once he would complete that and submit that to the school(s) they then review it and will send him a financial aid package or offer including loans and grants if he qualifies. If he makes less than a certain amount of money grants from both state and federal goverment will be made available. Most all people will be able to obtain loans (which must be paid back) for their education costs.
