Default Just went back 2 college. I'm 45 in my 2nd year. Any...

...advice from younger students on loans?? I'm attending Devry U, MN. Spent 8yrs Army. Been along time since i put myself under the grind but need advice on loans and maybe Grants other than Safford,Sallie Mae,Wachovia. ThanxAll info Appreciated.

Been through it, all the financial aid stuff. Let me just tell you this: If it is at all possible to NOT take out a loan then DON'T! You will be paying them off for a long time afterwards.Go in to your schools financial aid office. Try to touch base with one of the counselors in there. The better you hit it off with them, the more they will help you get what you need. Definately apply for the grants, you may not get a full grant, but most of the time you can get a partial.The biggest trick is to apply first. Especially with the grant money, it is first come, first serve. (You apply for the whole year at the beginning of the year [January 1st]).

The best place to start is at the financial aid office at Devry. They will show you how to apply for Federal Financial Aid (loans and grants), plus point you in the direction of scholarships. Financial Aid can be very confusing, so it's wise to seek a professional's help. They are lots of scammers trying to give (and get) your money. Good luck!
