student loan information?

I unknowingly at 16 signed up for a student loan.my parents did not sign any thing. (they told me it was for books) I did speak to someone who told me that I can fill out paper work saying that I was underaged and a few more things that I cant remember. I need to know the steps that i will have to take to get this settled. if any one can help, I really appreciate it.
