Default full-time college students paying for their...

...apartments? I just wonder what kind of jobs they have that they can afford to have an apartment. Average cost of 1 bedroom here is $900. Plus utilities, food expenses, etc...you will need even more. How do people manage to work 40 hours and take 15+ hours at college? Is it exhausting for you guys? Is it worth it? What sacrifices do you make?

Hi there, when I was in college, my parents paid for my apartment as long as I went to school everyday and made decent grades they helped to support me. I know where I live now, the apartment complex (super nice one) gives university students major discounts and free furniture to furnish their apartment. Maybe you can contact your school to see if there are any apartments in the area near the school that do this. Good luck!!

i got loans and worked during college. i work on average 25-30 hours a week. A good job to get during college is working at a cell phone place. I worked at one and made an hourly wage which was 9.25 and hour and plus commision. Another great benfit about working at a cell phone company is you usually get free service and free phones.. At least i did... Monthly i was making at least 1800.00 a month... Another great thing about working there was that most places close at 7 or 8 unless you work at a mall.. so you can still hang out with friends on the weekends...

It's hard, and it's stressful. My husband and I are both full-time students. We took out extra loans for living expenses, but he has a part-time job at Lowe's also. There is no way we could work 40+ a week with a full load, and expect to do well. It is already exhausting just working 30 hours plus trying to get all the school stuff done. I don't feel like we have to sacrafice a lot. Just watch what we spend, and make time for studying. We looked all over for a place to live that was affordable, and found a quaint duplex for $550. If I was single, I would get roommates so I could split up the payment. Then I would try to work some place on campus or near it. Rent here sounds a lot cheaper than where you're at though. We go to the University of Missouri-Columbia. www.missouri.edu

I live on my own in a apartment and it's definately financially straining. I work part time and then use student loans to "top up". I kind of lucked out, though, I found a one bedroom, basement apartment, with my own entrance and free laundry right outside my door for $540 plus hydro. If you really want to live on your own, you just need to be persistent in finding a place that will work for you.
