How/where can I find (negative) public information information (judgements, etc.) about myself? I've noticed several things in my CRs that I'm sure is past the SOL (except for the judgement; but from reading this board (if I'm not mistaken, judgements can be "renewed", so to speak), but I don't know where to find out about the negative public information. I know that the answer is somewhere on this board, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find it. Thanks for the help!! |

A judgement would also be on your credit report, but in terms of where it is filed publicly, it would have to be filed with the court where the judgment was recorded.

There are private companies who do this for a living. They use search facilities such as LEXIS/NEXIS that can do comprehensive searches based on name, jurisdiction, etc. Unless you have access to an automated search engine, visits to court houses is the next thing. The search is narrowed down provided you know the jurisdiction where a judgment was alleged granted. Then a simple visit to the office of the clerk of the court will enable you to research their records. |
