My husband and I seperated for a while a few years ago. While we were seprated, he opened an account for some furniture that he bought when he moved out. He stopped making payment on the account and they forwarded the account to the courts. Today, he got a letter from the OC stating that the account was paid in full on 12/30/2010. My husband nor I paid this. What does this mean? Please help!

I haven't heard of this happening but heck I mean if they think it is paid then that is probably the end of it. Is anything showing up on your credit report?

No and that's why I thought it was so weird. We haven't been contacted by any other company stating they paid the debt. We recently got a letter from the OC saying thanks for payment. I'm so confused???????

My guess would be that the OC told you that they have updated your CR to reflect a $0 balance owed to them. That does not mean the debt is satisfied. It might mean simply that they have sold it to another party. What is the specific wording of their letter? |
