Default satisfied judgment - court name and address not found

Hello all,

I need input please. There is a satisfied judgment I'm trying to remove from my credit reports and I'm continuing the search for the proper way to handle it. It all began with Great Seneca Financial Corporation and then apparently, the debt turned into a judgment and my wages were garnished. At the time, I didn't have any knowledge of what to do. The only thing I got was a letter from my employer stating that my wages were to be garnished and there was a letter attached regarding a file for a judgment that I owed on.

The court address listed on my credit report is:

D B Dews, Minneapolis, MN 55487-0001

The Plaintiff is:

Great Seneca Financial Corporation

After researching, I discovered that D B Dews is not on the BBB website there is not a D B Dews listed in Minnesota. I find that there is a D B Dews located in Texas??? All the addresses I found for D B Dews are in Texas (via google) and that worries me. The Equifax credit report I just pulled yesterday reflects Minneapolis, MN 55487. This raises a red flag or two.

Shouldn't the court be in the same state the judgment was filed in? Shouldn't the address on my credit report reflect what actual address the court uses? I am seriously confused.

Isn't D B Dews who I am supposed to contact concerning the judgment? Do I contact Great Seneca Financial Corporation regarding the jugment removal? Maybe I'm overlooking something or worrying too much and therefore I am overwhelmed with information that is more simple than I make it out to be.

This is all so fishy, which is comes as no surprise, but I am unsure where to go from here with letters to write and such. I don't know enough of the lingo and I'm not sure what information to include or not to include when writing.

Any relative stories, sample letters or advice anyone would have time to share would be enormously appreciated.

Thank you!

Default correction...

My apologies... but I had every intention of going back through my title and letter to change 'court' to 'law office'

The law office name is D B Dews, not the courts.

I just got so carried away and didn't correct myself.

I reside in the state of Minnesota and was just wondering why the law offices would be located in Texas.

I'm not sure how to contact the courts and who to address the letter to.

Do I begin with the court and then continue pressing on?

Or do I dispute with the CRA's? I think I read that the CRA's don't confirm anything with the courts so I have to go through the courts first and then submit a copy of the letter received from the court with the CRA's.

Is that right?

Default court name/law office

I'm back... sorry.

It's just that the removal of this judgment on my credit report is going to kill me and I'm going crazy. LoL

What you see below is what I actually copied and pasted from my Equifax credit report.

Type: Satisfied Judgment
Date Filed: 01/2007
Case Number: XXXXXXXXXX
Court Number/Name:
Court Address: D B Dews
Minneapolis, MN 554870001

Plaintiff: GREAT SENECA FINANCIAL CORPORATI
Defendant: (deleted for privacy)
Amount: $2,670
Status:
Date Reported: N/A
Satisfied Date: 05/2008
Verified Date:
Comments:
You have no Tax Liens on file.

So, after all D B Dews IS listed as the court address. Only, they aren't a court at all. I researched D B Dews and they are listed as a "NON-CLASSIFIED ESTABLISHMENT" on one website and on another they are listed as "INVESTIGATORS" Since when are either of those a court?

Any suggestions on where to begin when contacting the court? Wouldn't the court be in Minnesota since that is where the judgment was filed?

My apologies for being redundant or seeming a little crazy, but I'm just trying to understand what I should do in order to get my credit repaired and begin having a 'normal' life again.

Thank you

You're over complicating things. All you have to do is dispute it and take it from there.

As far as the attorney having to live in the same state as you, no they can be from any state as long as they sue you in your state.

Default Thanks :)

Thank you, Chane.

Sorry for overcomplicating things.

I have a tendency to do that sometimes when I'm too high strung and confused about something new and don't know how to handle it.

I appreciate your reading all of my posts, even as crazy as they look.

I've written letters to the three CRA's requesting removal of old addresses to send off today. Reading through the forum, everyone agrees that old residential addresses be removed before disputing anything with the CRA's.

Thanks for calming me down and setting my sights straight

No problem. It's totally understandable. Credit is very important and there's a lot at stake. Credit repair is overwhelming for most people at first, but it will eventually all make sense. Unfortunately, the CRAs are never consistent so it's hard to say what will work the best for each individual.

One of my goals with this forum is for people to share what is working for them and what isn't, get enough data and eventually compile the information in a more user friendly way so that people can simply do a search and see what worked best for others in their situation. Of course, I also want it to be a place people can come for support, because it's very stressful for most people. So, just know that we are here for you.

Default D B Dews

we have also just discovered a tax lien on my husband's credit report from this label, D B Dews but out of Little Rock, Arkansas. I googled them after the number provided was disconnected and only Texas offices are online and they all have the same phone number which are not working as well. I have disputed this with Equifax.

I was wondering what ever came of your situation with them and if Chance here has heard much about these guys...definitely seems to be fraudulent with the owner being named "Mrs. florence dews". would love to get this handled quickly.
Thanks!

I am not sure what the issue for a dispute would be in the case of a paid judgment. Was the debt not yours? The place to dispute the issues pertaining to the judgment would have been in court. Did you show up in court?

Having now paid the judgment, I would suggest looking into filing a motion before the court that issued the judgment, asking them to vacate the judgment based on payment of the debt.

While many courts will require a showing of error in a judgment to vacate it, some will entertain payment of the judgment as grounds to dismiss. You don't need to contact the attorney for plaintiff to make such a motion.

Before doing so, I would pick up the phone and contact the clerk of the court that rendered the judgment. They know court precedent and procedure, and can give you guidance on the procedure for making such a motion, and give you some background on how the court has handled similar past motions. Does that court regularly grant or dismiss motions on that grounds?

If you get the judgment vacated by the court, it will be removed from your CR.
