Smile Foreclosure in Florida

Hi all,

Got a credit situation here I was wanting some advice on. In May of 2008, foreclosure proceedings were started on a home I owned in St. Pete, Florida. I had been laid off in January of 2007 and moved to New Hampshire that same month for another job. I made the payments for over a year, but couldn't continue to do so beyond that point. Now it is November, 2010. I have about 10k in unsecured credit debt and one car note for my wife with about 10k outstanding. Because of the credit crunch, as I pay off my cards, the banks close them out.

The only negative on my credit report is the foreclosure, and my average score is 590. Before my foreclosure, my credit rating was 750. Between my wife and I, we gross about 125k annually. I am in a rental home for another 1.5 years, but would like to buy when the lease is up. What should I do in the meantime to best prepare myself so that a bank will loan me the money. Also, how should I approach purchasing a car. I have recently applied for 2 additional credit cards to increase my rating, but was turned down for both.
Thanks

You're going to want to start getting copies of your credit reports and disputing the negative items to see what comes off and work from there.

You can start here:

Basic Step by Step Beginner's Guide to Credit Repair

Or hire a one of the professional credit repair companies. It depends how much time you have. Learning the laws of the credit system and credit repair methods take time, but it's worth it. You gotta learn this game in order to win it, but if you don't have the time, it's understandable, many people don't. In that case, go with one of those credit repair companies from the link above. They'll take care of you and make sure it gets done right.
