Default Removing a public record that was settled on

Hello all,

I had settled with a Discover card back in November of 2008. It shows now as a public record and I'd like to get it removed as the amount was settled and paid. It was originally filed in June of 2004, and I'm trying to obtain a car loan and lendors are giving me crap about it.

I believe it will fall off next year in June 2011 as that is 7 years but I'd like to get it removed prior.

Any Help?

Also any idea of how much higher my credit score would go up if it were removed. My Fico score is 69X right now, and this lendor still wouldn't approve me for a car loan.

Thanks

The item came back verified. Is there a letter that I could send to the OC (Discover Bank) where they could consider removing the public record?

What kind of public record is it? How did you dispute it?

It was for a Discover Card that was filed 06/2004.

I paid the attorney which represented Discover Card the agreed amount.

It came back apparently verified.

Should I send out a goodwill or something else for this Closed credit card. And who do I send it to?

Ok, so it's a judgment.

What you should have done is send a pay for delete letter before paying it. Now you have no leverage. If you disputed it and they verified it, they have the check that you wrote them as proof that it's yours. It will probably stay on for 7 years from the date they received the payment.

You can try a goodwill letter, but I highly doubt that will work.

There were many steps you could have taken including showing up to court or not letting it go to court. Never let them get a default judgment on you. It's also best not to ever pay a debt until you get it in writing that they will remove it if you pay it. Now they have no reason to remove it and you gave them proof that it's yours.

There's not much you can do at this time. You did everything wrong. I'm not trying to condemn you or be a dick about it. This kind of thing happens everyday with thousands of people. I truly want to help you, there's just not much advice I can give you at this point. You need to learn how the credit system works so that you don't make that mistake again.

Hi chane,

I called the courts and they indicate the file is closed... what would that mean?

I also received the requested copy from the attorneys office that represented discover card with the Warrant to Satisfy Judgement.

Are these two interrelated?

Also would I be able to request a motion to vacate? If so, who would place in the request, myself or the attorney that represented Discover Bank?

Thanks!
