Talking PFD on a judgement?

Been lurking around in here for a few days and have started the process of trying to get my credit cleaned up. I have a judgement from '04 from an eviction, I paid the majority of the money when I went to court but still owe $357, the judgement shows it will fall off of my CR 2/2011 but I am trying to raise my score enough to secure an FHA loan. Didn't know if I could try a PFD with a judgement or not since I'm sure paying it would not help all that much.

Any suggestions?

Hi there....

Did you read under Judgements and how to try to get it deleted? I would try that first and if that doesn't work I would maybe do a pay for delete.
Im thinking that maybe since it is so old that the courts wont have it listed in there records anymore.

A couple of things to remember regarding getting unpaid judgments removed from CR(via disputing or reporting SOL period ending).

It doesn't mean the creditor/ca/law firm can't still attempt to collect on the judgment through wage garnishment, seizing property, etc(unless of course you live in a State that has no wage garnishment or total homestead exemption) OR that it can't be renewed after 7/10/20 years depending on your State law(again this may or may not happen).

Also if you have a filed, entered and recorded judgment in the State you currently reside in, even if you get the judgment off your CR there's a possibility it can/will show up in a title search if you're going to be dealing with real estate in any way(buying, selling, etc).

PFD is not applicable in this case because the actual creditor did not report such info. Instead a third party company that pretty much digs up public records(judgments, liens, bk's,etc) sells such info to the CRAs who in turn place item(s) under the public records section of your credit reports.

Your best bet may be to pay the remainder of the balance owed on the judgment and try and dispute it. There's a thread by Trish on how to dispute judgments.

Good Luck!
