Default HELP!!!!!!

I recently pulled a credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com. I have things that I have paid and they are still on my credit report. Aren't charge-off accounts supposed to come off after 7 years?

Did you get something in writing stating they would delete the accounts from your credit report once you paid?? If not, then they will remain and show as paid collection/charge off. Your best bet is too do the basics of credit repair(i.e. remove old addresses, name variation.etc from the personal section of your CR and opt out), then dispute the accounts with the CRA's.

Also, if you dispute using the annual credit report, the CRA's are allowed 45 days to investigate instead of 30 days(if you're using credit report bought directly from the individual CRA's).

7 years from the DOFD(date of first delinquency) with the OC(original creditor).

How do I remove my old addresses and name variations and from where? And what do you mean by opting out?

Start by ordering actual hard copies of your reports from each separate credit bureau(EX, TU, EQ). Yes, I am suggesting you pay for them initially but there's a reason why that is important. If use the Free Annual Reports to dispute with the CRAs are allowed 45 days to process your disputes instead of 30 days, you don't want that. Also don't use the trimerge or 3 in 1 reports either they are usually missing pieces of data that you need.

Once you have the reports, then you can dispute old addresses, name variations, phone numbers, employer names off your reports. The less info they have on you the better. You can do this either by calling, going online to their website or disputing via mail. Most people initially try and remove these by calling.

Here is a post by Shayne54 in the stickied thread titled "Beginner's Credit Information" that should answer your question regarding opting out and why its important.

one more thing I recently requested a credit report from experian using a free 7-day trial for their triple advantage program would this qualify as a "hard copy" or do I have to re request one and pay for it in order to only give them the 30 day period?

When verifying anything, they are supposed to contact the source of where the information came from.
