How to remove late payments on my credit report

In a nut shell, I used to have perfect credit about 1.5 years ago. I lost my job and needed to do a loan modification or shortsale with Bank of America (BOA). They told me I had to be past due on my account in order for them to talk with me. I listened and after 3 months they told me I needed to be current if they want to do a loan modification (really???). After 5 short sales offers, BOA kept on losing information or putting off my file for 1.5 years while issuing a 120+ days late payment on my report each month. They finally have a new system (Equator) which will hopefully make my short sale go through later this month. My questions is how do I remove these late payments? I have been working with BOA all this time but since they are so unorganized they have been marking my report as if I have not been working with them. Any help will be greatly appreciated as this has been a very frusturating and long process.

If you could talk to someone at BOA and get them to remove them for you that would be ideal. But, they usually won't. You can also dispute them with the CRAs, but it being BOA, they will probably verify them. I think your chances of getting them removed are slim, but that wouldn't stop me from trying both of the methods I mentioned.

Make sure you request that the account be correct to "never late" or they might even remove it. If the account was positive before the late payments, you definitely don't want that. But, on the other hand, it's better than having a negative on your report.

I went through the EXACT same thing and was curious if you were able to resolve the late payments on your credit report. I found out yesterday that BOA is still reporting our settled amount 90 days late and is doing so every month.
