Hello, I've used a service in the past that was non-profit. I paid about 50dollars a year, and send them one check, and they distributed the money to my creditors. They also lowered my interest rates. I have lots of student loans, but for professional reasons I need to get rid of about 5k of credit card debt, collections. (all accounts closed). I tried disputing the transactions as well, so we will see. Anyone know of any services in NY for credit counseling like this? Anyone have any luck disputing their transactions? Once removed can the companies still rereport? I'm not working now, and for some of the transactions what once was 500 in credit card debt is now 1700 do to late fees. The collection agencies offer to reduce it all by 40-50%. Is it better to do this or go back to the original company? Or can a non-profit help? Any advice would be great |

IF they get removed, they can still show back up if you don't work directly with the creditors, but a lot of times the creditors won't relist the item. I would do a Pay for deletion letter. You basically have them send you a contract where if you pay off a certain percent of the original debt, they agree to accept it as payment in full and will take the item off your report. If they don't take the item off your credit report than you can send a copy of the contract directly to the bureau asking them to remove it. I called Lexington Law at 800 220 0084 for some advice, they have a different way of doing it than pay for deletion and I know people that have used them successfully. |
