So i have a few debts out there that i want to pay small monthly amounts on. However several of the accounts have changed hands of collection agencies. So i get random calls from bills collectors asking for money. When i ask them to mail me a copy of the debt they are collecting on they tell me they cant or they have. And i am certain they have not (not at the correct address anyway). Are they required to show me proof? I dont like paying on something im not familiar with. (If its a old debt)

1. NEVER talk to a debt collector over the phone. 2. Pull your credit reports and see which CAs are reporting. 3. 1-2 punch for those that are. 4. Offer pay for deletes to all of the CAs that refuse to remove themselves from your credit report, after you've tried every other way (if you really owe the debt). Do NOT pay anyone 1 more dime until they agree to remove if from your credit report in writing.
