Default How to remove a HELOC

Okay, this HELOC was a recourse loan, so I ended up settling the balance right around the time the home foreclosed.

Interestingly, if you look at the payment history reported on my Experian report, it is all over the place. It takes 9 months for them to move me from 30 days delinquent to 180 days delinquent, with some "ND" mixed in and even one month of "OK" as if I was current suddenly. Keep in mind I made no payments during this period.

Also, the month I settled this account, just shows as "ND". Then 11 months later after a string of "ND" it changes to "CO". Then the next month back to ND for 12 months, then back to "CO" again after that. Keep in mind, this is like a year and two years after I settled this account. Why go from ND to CO nearly two years after I settled this account? Plus, they only marked it as "CLS" for closed in August 2011, which is seriously 2 years after I settled the balance.

Another issue is the comment they have written in the status box, "Paid in Settlement. $25,000 written off." That's incorrect, because I did pay when I settled, so the amount written-off was not the full $25,000, it was less. And I have the settlement letter to prove that. Accounting semantics maybe, but they did not write-off $25,000 because they recovered the amount I paid in settlement. So it is incorrect, and they shouldn't be able to give the wrong amount.

Not only that, but the amount settled was actually higher than the $25,000 because of 9 months of interest and fess.

And they have recorded the High Balance as $25,000, when I have statements showing a higher balance due to the interest & fees. The statements clearly show a higher balance. $25,000 was just the credit limit, not the high balance.

Lastly there is some sort of "AB" or account balance section that shows the amount that was written-off as a balance due for the six months after I paid the settlement. It's almost like they applied the settlement payment to the balance, but didn't write-off the remaining amount and show it outstanding for until the end of the year. I settled in July 2009. They should not show a balance due for Oct, Nov and Dec 2009. But they do.

To the POINT: This is ripe with so many errors that I can't believe they would get way with this. And this was just Experian. Equifax is a disaster too. What is the best tactic to just get this account deleted from my credit reports?

[I just noticed right now that Equifx didn't even start aging the account history until the month I settled. They code the charge off in May 2010 when I settled this in like July 2009. They they show me 30 days past due in July 2009. What crap, I stopped paying this in 2008.]

No comments or advice?

I mailed a letter disputing the reporting of this account... again.... to the creditor. I pointed out in my letter that this is the nineth (9) time I've disputed the reporting, and that I have eight (8) letters from them stating that the reporting was verified to be accurate. (I keep these all in a file along with my dispute letters) Then I followed that by pointing out that they are reporting different information to the different agencies, and therefore, they have falsely verified reporting to be accurate EIGHT times.

And I included a listing of all the errors that I noted for each different credit report.

I didn't provide any support other than a copy of each relevant page of my credit report which shows the different reporting.

Anyway, I mailed it yesterday, so we'll see how it goes this time. Clearly this is the most effort I've made in a dispute letter to date, so hopefully it will pay off.
