I have (2) Charge off accounts from HSBC that are not reporting a payment history on none of my credit reports. I have disputed these items to the credit bureaus as incomplete. HSBC sent me letters stating that they have received my credit bureau dispute and that they are reporting the status to the three major reporting agencies as account was sold to Sherman. They also informed me that they no longer own the account and that I should direct all future inquiries regarding these accounts to the new legal owner. Equifax sent me a letter stating that the account status has been updated and that the payment history was updated. However, the payment history is still missing and the status did not change from my previous credit report before I mailed my dispute. Transunion mailed my dispute results claiming that the information was updated and there was no update. The payment history was still missing. My question is what can I do from here? |

Payment history does not have to include any and all adverse items incurred on the account. They are not required to report each and every delinquency. They are required to assure accuracy of what they do report, but not to provide a full history to the CRA of all activities on the account. They can choose to report nothing prior to reporting a charge-off. I would not see it as an advantage to ask them to supplement your credit history by adding additional negative items. If they have now sold the debt, the last status would be that of their charge-off. Nothing to update there. They are, however, required to update the account to now show a debt balance owed to them of $0. |
