Disputeissues- My understanding is that you were late on the account and they are reporting correct information. You have contacted all parties involved and no one is willing to budge. The question you asked was "What more can I do if anything" and my response is not much right now! The account was 120 days late according to their records and it sounds like you are not able to prove this otherwise. I will say that your understanding of the score is incorrect. Your score takes will not continue to go down if this account has been paid, you just have to wait for it to organically (naturally, 7 years) disappear from your report. The information is there and your credit score has been effected as much as it will be for this instance. If you can give them the specific date you paid and prove that the information is incorrect than they have to remove it via law. From your most recent post I did not see anything incorrect as far as the information you have provided, but that did not include the two instances you just referenced. Hope this was helpful. -Joe |

My issue is not removing a valid reporting - I understand it was my fault and am not asking to delete a correct item. I understand the blemish will stay on my record for 7 years. My issue is with the monthly status reporting that has continued since my account was paid in full. There have been several months since my account was paid in full where the OC has reported the 120 days late/Collection Account status again. This has caused a regular delinquency in my CR each time. If you look at my MyFico report for example, the date of last activity was 10/2008. Largest balance $204, balance $0 and current account status of 120+ past due. Under the history it shows I was 120+ on 5/2011, 1/2011, 9/2011 etc.. But the account was paid back in 10/2008 as it shows and the OC confirms. It also showed up again last month and caused my score to drop again. This is shown in all 3 reports I posted. Thanks again for your help, appreciate the feedback from everyone here. |

If paid, regardless of how or to who, the debt collector must do two things. They must update their collection account to read "closed" and update the balance of debt under their collection to read "$0." The status of the collection does not affect your credit scoring. Both open and closed collections are simply collections. The continued reporting of a prior adverse item is not improper per se if it simply reiterates prior reporting. It doens not add a derogatory item to your credit report unless reported as a new adverse item. When creditors and debt collectors report to the CRA, they usually provide a long list of code that includes all previously reported information. Repetition does not "update" anything. |

I am confused. It appears the OC reported a prior status of their referral for collection, but the debt collector never actually reported to the CRA? If that is the case, there would be no actual "collection." |
