Can information be removed from my CR using a hand written dispute if I already did an online dispute and it was verified? Or will they simply see that it is already verified and keep it? Thanks |

Disputes can be dismissed without any investigation if they are considered "frivolous or irrelevant.' When applied to a dispute made through a CRA, the relevant statute is FCRA 611(a)(3). When applied to a direct dispute, the relevant statute is FCRA 623(a)(8)(F). While both of these provisions are defining essentially the same thing, the newer section 623(a)(8)(F) specifically mentions a second dispute that is substantially the same as a prior dispute as being frivolous or irrelevant. The older section of statute, which pertains specifically to disputes made through a CRA, does not mention duplicate disputes, but clearly the same issue applies. Thus, a second dispute which is substantially the same as one previously verified can be dismissed without any requirement for a new investigation as being 'frivolous or irrelevant." One dispute, one mandatory investigation. |

I guess the next question is, if I send in a hand written dispute, is there still a chance I can get the inquires deleted? Or is it worthless and a waste of my time?

I've sent numerous dispute letters disputing the same items numerous times with favorable responses. Sometimes they will come back as frivolous, other times they will come back as "already verified", but sometimes they come back as "deleted". So, I think it's at least worth a try, but you may want to try another technique first.

Thanks! I will try to pursue other means on a few accounts, but for inquires I will dispute via letter.

DV letters relate to debt collection practices under the FDCPA. They apply only to debt collectors. You dont send a DV to an OC.
