Default Goodwill letter reject

Hi I sent a GWL to Jefferson Capital systems, I received a letter saying that they will not remove the acct from my credit report and what they have reported to the CRA is accurate. I have paid the account off in 2009 and do not owe them any money. The OC is Sprint services.

My question is what do i do next??? Does anyone know how I can get contact info for a CEO or someone higher up??? Do I keep sending them letters begging??? Should I contact the individual who's name is on the bottom of the letter begging her (lol). Should I contact sprint even though they are not the ones that are reporting to the CRA???

I don't want to give up so easy, I have read other positive GW stories about Jefferson Capital systems, but they are much older stories (2008). I'm trying to buy a house next year and really need some insight on this company!!! Thanks in advance!!

I am not familiar with their specific corporate policy, so don't have a specific answer. I offer some comments on the process as they might view it.

From a purely administrative point of view, they are well within their rights to refuse any deletion of accurately reported information. The CRA has an express stipulation in their credit reporting agreements that reporters of information are not to delete prior reporting of accurate information based on ultimate payment of the associated debt. So that gives them an out if they wish to routinely dismiss any GW or PFD request.

It is not a statutory or regulatory requirement, and the CRAs have no practical means to enforce this guideline, but it nonetheless exists, and some reporters of information will just summarily rely on that as a means to simply dismiss any request for CR deletion. Some express this policy to their underlings who make the routine decisions, so if they have such a policy, you are correct that it may need the authority of a higher-up in their food chain to grant an exception.

I would not involve the CRA in this process for the obvious reason that it is against their policy, and they are unlikely to become your advocate in a request to violate their own credit reporting criteria. Likewise, the OC has no authority to grant deletion of credit reporting done by another party, even if that party was their debt collection agent.

Perseverance.......

Thanks Lian,

I don't want to give up so easy. I know there has to be someone that has information of a higher up for JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEMS or another route. I do understand that they do not have to delete the account but I don't want to wait 4 more years for this account to fall off.
