There are a few medical bills that I have with a collection agency. 2-4 years old. Anyway, I talked to them the other day and asked them about doing a pay for delete, since paying them would only hurt my score. They said that they cannot do a pay for delete, as it is illegal and goes against their contracts with the CRA. Does any of that sound true? Should I send a letter anyway? I live in Missouri, the CA is Berlin Wheeler. |

None of that sounds true. It isn't illegal. I would send the letter. Worse case scenario, your score doesn't get any worse. Best case scenario they do something illegal or agree to do a pay for delete. Very few employees at a collection agency are going to know the real deal about a pay for delete.
