I have a closed Chase account, I paid late but in full and Chase closed it. The CRA told me to take it off I had to call Chase, so I did, but Chase doesn't have any info about it, so they took my info and said they would file a dispute with CRA. My question is, since they don't remember me, can I just dispute it myself thru the CRAs? thanks for the help |

Yes you could but having Chase do it will get it removed for sure. You of course could always dispute it yourself at the same time.

Yes. In fact, the statement by Chase that they will dispute it for you is kinda ridiculous. They are going to dispute the accuracy of their own reporting, and then investigate it? Nonsense. If they know that the information is inaccurate, they have the sole responsibility to correct it on their own. They don't involve a CRA in the investigation of their own inaccuracies. File a direct dispute with Chase under FCRA 623(a)(8), give a reason to dispute its accuracy, and require them to investigate, If they cannot verify the accuracy, then it must be deleted. You control disputes of accuracy. |
