Can the 1-2 Punch work on an account that has already been settled with CA's a few years ago?

No, you have already received DV and paid it. They do not have to respond to your request for debt validation within the 30 days because it's already been established you were notified of the debt and did not dispute it within 30 days of learning about the debt and you even paid the debt. As in the other post.. which I will paste here.. To be honest with you.. A Paid CA that old is probably not having nearly as big of an effect on your credit score as you're thinking it does. How is your credit debt to credit limit ratio? If it's more than 30% that is probably what's dragging your score down more than anything. The way your credit score is factored: 35% - Your Payment History 30% - Amounts You Owe 15% - Length of Your Credit History 10% - Types of Credit Used 10% - New Credit Anyway, You don't have a lot of options to get it removed at this point. You can simply ask them. You can write a very heart felt woe is me sob story letter and ask them pretty please to remove it.. Or You can dispute it with the Credit reporting agencies (TU, EQ, EX) and see if you can get it deleted by filing a dispute. You can't pfd because it's already been paid and you can't request DV because you already got it and paid them directly. Those are pretty much your only two options. Have you tried disputing it with the credit bureaus?" Now, with that said. IF it's a medical bill that you paid the Medical provider DIRECTLY on you could always try and write a hipaa letter.. |

Thanks for the reply... Well, i've got 17 negative entries, so I'm pretty sure they are affecting me... I currently only have 1 card and it's a cap 1 $300 limit... Just got it about a month ago. Just got my wife a secured card through them as well, it's not in yet, but we will be using them to purchase small items each month and paying them off... I talked to a specialist at BlueSky and he said to get two secured cards and use them monthly and pay the balance each month... and then when ready to check score to have the amount at about 20% maxed to take advantage of the credit to limit ratio... is that right?

Even if you were to DV them, their response, if they even chose to respond, would be both simple and accurate: "Debt validated as $0." And, of course, with no debt still under collection, they would not be carrying on further collection activities to begin with, so cessation of collection would not even be an objective. |
