I have 2 old late payments on active credit card accounts that are from 2004. I want to get them removed. How should I dispute these with the credit bureaus? |

There are stickies in the beginners forum detailing step by step. You should check into the 623 method. I will say this. If they are late pays from that long ago they are having almost no effect at all on your credit score at this point. I'm guessing you would see very little score improvement from removing two 6-7 year old late pays. They should fall off of your reports sometime this year anyway. |

The first question is, are the delinquencies accurate? To dispute, you must assert inaccuracy in their reporting, and provide some supporting documentation. Otherwise, your dispute could be summarily dismised without any investigation on their part as being "frivolous or irrelevant." Locate the exact month and year of each delinquency. If they are monthly delinquencies on an OC account, they each drop individually after 7 years from their date of occurance, with no necessity for any action on your part. Deletion prior to those dates would, if the debt has been paid, requrie a request on your part for good-will deletion. |
