Default How long to CRAs have to delete personal info?

Just what my question asks. How long do the CRAs have to delete or confirm your personal info? I submitted a dispute over 45 days ago and they still have not answered it. The 45 days were up March 11. Whats next? Can I insist they delete it since it has been over 45 days or does that rule not apply to personal info?

Thanks

You should probably write them another letter stating that you sent them a letter 45 days ago and to please process your request. Don't try and strong arm them at this point or they'll just send you a denial letter. Be polite. Remember, unless you sent it with sig required they can legally just deny they ever got it.

You can't really "demand" anything with the CRA's. Your only options are to try and remind them of their responsability under the law and if they still remain unreasonalbe you can sue them for what you want and possilbly damages (but you better have your ducks in a row) and at this point you don't really even have any ducks.

I concur. Technically, what you sent to them was probaly not a dispute. Disputes are directed at the accuracy of information provided to them by furhishers of information to them (creditors and debt collectors).

Personal information gets into your credit file in numerous ways. Some may have been provided by you, and some may have resulted from incorrect reporting by a creditor.

What "personal information" is incorrect, and who reported it?

Update of personal information is usually not a big deal. The CRAs want it to be accurate just as much as you do, for it is usually their first line in accurate matching of credit reporting to your credit file.

As was suggested, take it cordial and easy with the CRA, without elevating to disputes.

Oh I'm trying to get rid of addresses that are either really old or were never mine. They are linked to credit lines so I feel like I need to get rid of them before disputing.

Ok thanks for the advice I will relax a bit then !
