Default New account vs. Seasoned tradeline

What happens if you have had a credit card account for 2 plus years and your card is lost or stolen.....? The company issues another card, another account number and the history starts over. Does your score drop? If so, who do you get to correct this situation....the cra or the card issuer?

I don't think that this would harm your score due to the fact that it was stolen. It should also be posted on the report by the credit bureau that it in fact was stolen with a zero balance.

It will probably drop temporarily because it will look like that account was closed (not good) and it will also look like you opened a new account (not good at first). However, once you have some payment on the "new account" your scores will go back to what they were and continue to climb as you establish history.
