I have a charge off for an auto loan on my credit from about 3 years ago. Long story short, I had a vehicle that was totaled and was left with a balance after the insurance company paid off what they paid off. When I went to purchase my next car, the dealership signed a form indicating that they would pay off that balance. I check my credit months later to find that it's actually been listed as a charge off. The account had perfect payments for 2 years, prior to the charge off so I was wondering if it's better to dispute the charge off and have them change it (leaving my perfect payments on my report) or to just try and get it deleted altogether. I still have the letter from the car dealership promising to pay the balance off, so I was wondering if that would be of any help at this point. |
