I am sure this has been addressed but I want to be clear. I was laid off and got behind on some cards. I had a card with a $10,000 balance that got charged off by chase. I wanted to try and clear up my credit back in March of 2010. I made a deal with the collection agency to pay back $375 a month for 12 months. In what I have been reading it probably wasn't a good thing to keep paying them on this charge off. My last payment of $375 is at the end of this month and it should be settled. they already indicated that I would be receiving the tax form for the remaining balance. Is this the best solution at this point for the charge off. From what I read it would be 7 years in order for that to come off of my credit report. The balance will be roughly $6000 at the end of this month. I can't pay that off and don't want to keep this active?? Please help with a solution??? |

The best thing to do at this point is just try to dispute it. Since you've already made payment arrangements without getting a PFD, there is not much else you can do.
