Default Credit Card Debt....

Hi all, this is my first post here, my name is Drew and I've gotten myself into quite a pickle.

I have about $2800 on a citi visa card that I haven't made a payment on in about 20 months. I realize this was extremely stupid and to be honest I don't really have a good excuse for it. I want to take action on this and on my credit in general.

The question in all of this is what is the smart move? I want to make good on this debt and do the best things for my credit now and in the future.

Do you have the money to pay it?

Not all of it, but I can make monthly payments and I want to use my tax return towards it.

Well, ideally you could offer them a pay for delete, where they agree to delete it once you pay it in full. But, if it took you forever to pay it, that would ruin your credit for a long time.

Ok, I have a couple of new developments. 1.) The CA just offered me a 1/2 off deal to settle the debt. 2.)I am getting a much larger tax return than I thought, almost enough to cover all of the original debt. My question now is do I offer them the 1/2 off amount on the PFD or the full amount?
