Can AMEX really do this?

Got pre-approved for an AMEX gold card. Got it! Used it a little.

Two months later they freeze the card and say they need income information.

WTF!!!! Is this legal? What should I do?

i have had amex clear since 2008,i recently got laid off 6 months ago and last month i asked for a $3,000 limit to increase to $5,000....i had 0 balnace and collectiing uneployment.depends were your debit to availble limit is also....im suuming,were u late...explain lil bit more..

On once had an American Excuse card. They were a pain in the ass. They would always give me grief anytime I deviated from my “normal” spending habits. It was embarrassing as hell to have to call them while standing at the checkout counter to make a purchase. At the time I had very good credit had been an Amex customer for years and was never a day late on my payments. I finally got so fed up that I closed the account, shredded the card and declared a boycott on them for life.

i have been using a amex clear since 2008.whats the clear card? no yearly fee,take as long as u like to pay off balances,no late fees,no overdraft fees.i dunno.its purfect.i have a 5k limit with 0 blanace now....im still wondering why u went threw all that at dinnertime with a date come bill time?ALWAYS have cash OR second card(even debit) so this never happens...lol.

Most of what you posted makes absolutely no sense at all. You are either stoned or an Amex employee. I posted to let the OP know that Amex has been up to this kind of bull shit for a long time now.

You seem to be happy with them. I hope you good luck continues. I had their card for over 10 years and was never late in my payments. I just got sick of having to write a check, use another card or talk on the phone for 10 minutes to use my charge card that supposedly had no spending limit. If you still don’t understand, sleep it off and try again tomorrow.

im sober for 1(dont insult me bro),union welder for two and as far as making sense goes....none of my friends including myself would EVER go on a date with $0 in wallet and atleast Second card it is what they call a "backup" plan.yet u brought a single card with u ?.amazing that women/ppl even deal with u as others are trying to help u and u flat out insult them,lol.........goodluck there buddy.u need a special woman in your life to deal with you,i can tell.mr unprepared/impulsive and very short temperd.i will pray for you and the woman your with.funny too as your name is "gameplan" LOL

Did you read anything in my post that indicated that I was ever unable to complete a finical transaction because of Amex's BS? Did I say anything about a date? You have the reading comprehension of a third grader.

you are correct tho,u made a purchase(not a date) and standing in line calling.but still no backup plan(second card,a backup plan?)...
