OLD accounts being reported as NEW

I have posted about this in the last two months in other forum posts. Well today I received another "alert" from Equifax that a "new" account has been opened in my name. It is another old account that has just had the SOL pass.

The account is now being reported with a new account number, new balance (higher), and the DLA as N/A.

These guys are trying to "reset" the accounts. I know they cannot legally do this.

That is now (2) accounts in the last two months that have done this. What do you veterans suggest?

I just had something similar happen to me, after pulling my credit report I noticed an account saying last activity july 2010. Im currently doing the 1 2 punch, so i disputed with the collection agency and they sent me verification of an account from 2003-04.

Surely they cant get away with this? The amount is well above what I owe them..

I suggest suing the hell out of them. That is illegal!

I am going to sue them. I only have 5 negative accounts out of 20 years of otherwise perfect credit. Two of the five accounts are now past the SOL in Arizona. The other three pass the SOL in 45-60 days. Then it is time to start firing out the letters.

Any advice on which letters to send out? I need the following:

1) "the acct is past the SOl PFD/settle" letter

2) "the acct is past the SOl and you have reported inaccurate judgments and new accounts on my file" letter.
