Default How do I go about fixing my credit?

My husband and I both have bad credit, medical bills, unpaid credit cards, and a repossessed vehicle between us, all of these debts are years old, for the past couple years we havent had anything bad on our credit, we have a car we pay on and we just pay cash for everything else, we would like to buy a house within the next couple years, and my question is how can we repair our credit the right way, I know the first step is im gonna get a copy of both of our reports and see exactly what weve got, but whats next? Do I just have to call all the creditors and make arrangements? Will they even work with me considering these bills have been ignored for so long, hope someone has a clue because I sure don't. Thanks in advance.

First of all you have to find out if any of your debts are past the Statute of Limitations, (the time creditors have to legally collect on the debt). If they are, then you don't have to pay them. Educate yourself about credit and READ all you can about credit repair. You've come to the right site to start doing that! It's time consuming, but so worth it. I have been repairing mine as well, and slowly but surely, it's getting a little better. And the best advice I could give you, NEVER believe (or pay) a collection agency.
