Default When to send CMRR

I've been reading nonstop for about three months and have gotten started on the process of getting my credit back in shape. One thing I haven't quite got squared in my head is what method of mailing to use for what types of letters.

I've been sending everything CMRR by default, but it seems like some things aren't getting through because of the signature requirements, and I recently read that this will annoy the CRAs. Can someone spare a minute or two to lay out what the best way to send the different letters (validation PFD, etc) would be?

Also, is it ever OK to fax? It seems like it'd be a lot quicker....

Thanks!

It is ok to fax. CMRRR really only needs to be done for debt validation. For disputes and PFDs, a stamp is fine.

I would send all communication, whether it be to CRA or CA certified. You can send the mail certified and then go to the USPS website, enter the tracking numbers on the certified slip and it will tell you when it was delivered and received. Most people will print these pages from this website for a reference. I think correspondence with the CRA needs to be sent certified because they a have so many days to respond. If you send it regular mail you won't know when they get it and whether or not they violated the law under the FCRA.

I used to work for a credit repair company. We sent out thousands of disputes and never used CMRRR. We never had a problem.

I've also heard that all mail that requires a signature gets refused by CRAs and that it pisses CRAs off.

In my opinion, CMRRR is unnecessary and sending disputes by certified mail is outdated information, but again, that's just my opinion. If others are using CMRRR and not getting their mail refused and are benefiting from it, then my opinion will probably change. I reserve the right to change it as much as I want.

Thanks or the feedback. I may continue to send some things CM, especially if I want to get the recipient's attention, but removing the RR will cut my monthly postage costs in 1/2!
