I am needing some advice in the worst way! My husband and I are in the process of building a house. We are suppose to close mid Jan, which is in a few short weeks. I am currently enrolled in freecreditreport.com when I received a notice my report had changed and after investigation I was turned over to collections for unpaid Time Warner Cable bill. I was shocked and devastated as you can imagine since this would put a hold on our loan for our house! Perhaps if I give you the run down of the situation it might help. We moved to KS from NC in June, I received my first notice of unpaid bill from a collection agency in October from TWC. I never knew I even owed a balance to time warner until I received the notice for CPA (collection protection agency) I immediately made a payment of 50.00 October 14 with confirmation from CPA. November came and went and I did not make a payment as an oversight. That's when I noticed my report changed from FCR.com. I immediately called CPA and paid the bill in full. After speaking to our mortgage broker he advised me to get a pay for delete on the acct or we may not be able to qualify for our loan. I am devastated! He advised me the collection on my report could have dropped my credit scores 20+ points!! I can't afford that!! I called CPA and they advised me they can't erase anything from my credit report. They also said they did not pay Time Warner for our acct?? They "supposed" if TWC gave them the permission they could erase it?? The person I spoke to didn't even sound convincing. I spent 3 hours on the phone with TWC between trying to get me to the right dept to being on hold. It is a circus over there and no one seems to know what to do. I finally spoke to someone in internal collections and they advised me they couldn't "erase" it. Not only that but apparently I still owe 50.00 dollars on the acct??!! Which I know is wrong! TWC advised me I only paid the collection agency 134, when the bill was 184, which I did but I also made that 50.00 dollar payment in October they aren't factoring in! TWC said they would contact CPA to clear that up. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and get the matter resolved. My name and number was taken and I have yet to hear back. Our mortgage broker advises that it can be done it's just if they are willing or wanting to do pay for delete. Please help me! Am I just screwed and it is what it is or is they hope for us. I can't imagine not being able to get into our home because of this 184 dollar oversight!! Please let me know what I need to do in order to get this resolved! |

How did you make these payments, hopefully not over the phone. Do you have documentation regarding the payments made. Try to clear this up as soon as possible.

I paid online the 50.00 and yes, I called in a panic to CPA and paid immediately trying to get this resolved with my debit card. When I visit CPA website it says I have paid in full and no longer have a balance. I asked to send a receipt and paid in full statement and they said they would 10 days after payment to make sure payment was successful. I also have to pay 10 dollars for it??!! go figure. Why should I have not paid over the phone? Please tell me I haven't hurt myself even more |

You have no leverage now for a pay for delete since you have already paid. I just recently did 2 pay for delete. My creditors was willing to take 30% of what I owed and they agreed to remove the bad marks from my credit report. I sent them a letter to sign and waited until I received the letters back before I paid anything. Within a week of them receiving my payments the bad marks were removed and my credit score went up 27 points. My suggestion to you is to dispute it and if they dont verify the credit agencies will remove it from your report.
