Default disputed CA now getting letters

disputed CA and now they sent me a letter saying:

is this like some kind of threat? or some sneaky tactic. the account is yrs old and i faxed dispute on 10/10/10. please help

That letter looks like a very standard letter. You need to send them a response back asking them to validate their claim. like the letter said, they will show you all the original paperwork, if not they have no claim. It's like poker and they are trying to bluff you. Just call their bluff. They need to show you proof that they have a valid claim against you. More than likely, they will sell off your debt to some one else. You should also find out what your SOL is for your state. If it is after the SOL you are much better off.

i already disputed it on 10-10-10 i shouldnt have to do as the letter says. thats why i started this post. i live in kentucky i dont really understand how ky SOL works please help with that also

That's weird. I already answered this question, but now it's not showing up. Did you see my reply via email at all?

Anyway, you need to do what Dan says and send the CA a debt validation letter now.

SOL is extremely high for written contracts in Kentucky. It's 15 years. That is the highest of all states. So, send them a debt validation letter and see if they have the contract you signed with them. If you don't have a contract with them, then you don't owe that money and they need to remove it from your credit report or it's a $1,000 fine for each credit report if you sue.
