Default Which Secured Card?

Hello, I just started the path to credit repair...I just disputed my personal info for all three CRA's. In the mean time, I am about to apply for a secured cc. I think I am going with Public Savings.....any reason I should go with another? My other question is how should I use my card to maximize the affect on my credit score? Should I use it occasionally and then immediately pay it off when I get my statement? Or should I keep a little balance and pay more than the minimum each month? Thanks so much and have a great week!

I would recommend charging around 20% to 30% of your credit limit and paying the balance in full each month. You want be using the card on a regular basis while keeping the Balance/Credit Limit ratio low.

My other question is that I recently got married. Her credit is excellent. Would it have the same effect if I was put on her cards as an authorized user? Would it have the same affect as if the card was in my name? If I could skip the hassle of the fees that would be fantastic! Thanks!

From what I've read, that is an excellent way to build your credit as long as you pay on time. It will report on your credit from what I've read. I too am trying to rebuild and was thinking of public savings bank. I might go with US bank and their secured card, they can upgrade you to another card in 12 months of good spending habits, but I read you need a credit score of atleast 680 to qualify? Orchard Card and Capitol One both have secured credit cards. Bank of America and WellsFargo are a little more picky when accepting secured credit cards, ie no bk or no collections.

I am new to this forum but have been lurking for sometime. I am also in the process of rebuilding my credit so that I can purchase a house. I went with Capital One's secured CC only because of the low annual fee and no fee processing fee. I've only had the card for a month now and it has boosted my score by 20 pts just by them giving me the card. I am trying the charge small and pay the entire balance off each month method. Hope this helps and good luck in your decision.
