How do we go about removing a debt that my husband is not responsible for per a divorce decree? His ex defaulted on a car loan and it's showing up on my husbands report because he was a co-signor. However, in the divorce papers it gives complete responsibility for repayment of the loan to his ex, because she is the one who kept the car. So do we send in the divorce paperwork to the CRA or CA? Not sure how to proceed. Thanks |

I would probably just dispute it first. If it comes back verified, send in the divorce papers.

I know this one from personal experience. If he signed the loan he is still legally responsible to the creditor despite what the divorce decree states. He could take his ex back to court for not following the directives in the divorce and causing damage to his credit.

damn that stinks His ex lives in Mexico so I highly doubt we will be taking her to court why do they even bother putting that in the divorce decree then since it means nothing :frustrated:
