Default Medical Bills

Hello All, I am attempted to repair my credit and am hoping to get some good advise here. I am going to be separating my question into four different threads because it will make getting replies easier. My credit score range from 531 to 590 so I have a lot of work to do.

Thread Four:
I have two medical bills in for collections. One was to a dentist and is over seven years old but has been re-aged by the scum sucking collectors. I called the dentist’s office and they said that they have no record of me owing any debt. However, the credit bureaus have “verified” the debt. Since this is WAY past Texas’s 4 year SOL and is over seven years old I plan on being very aggressive in my response. I plan on sending a demand for an investigation to the dentist office and filling a dispute with the CA. If they fail to respond, I plan of filing a small claim suite against them. The dentist, CA and I are all located in the same city so this should be easy to pull off. Does this sound like the right action to take?

I also have a medical collection from July of 2008. The amount is only about $180. I would pay but don’t want this item on my credit for an extra two years. How often are “pay for deletes” effective in this type of circumstance?

It's not a bad strategy if you don't mind taking the time to sue them. There are really no statistics that I know of on pay for deletes. I've seen it work a lot, but I don't know how often.

I have no problems filing a small claims suite against the dentist. The debt is over seven old and it has passed its SOL for them suing me as well as the 7 year reporting to the credit reporting agencies. I’m going to send out demand letters to both the dentist’s office and his CA threatening a lawsuit if it is not removed immediately.

I think for the other medical bill, I will try politely to work with the original creditor to recall this debt from his CA. I would happily pay him in full in order to make this go away. Since the OC has not made any entries on my credit report it might be easy to have the CA taken off.
