Im from Australia can you help

Hi, long story short, i had a phone bill that went to a collection agency, and was paid. That was over 3 years ago, and says paid in full on my account. However, because that is on my account, i have been denied credit from some places, because of this 1 debt. How do i get this off my account so i can receive credit again. Do i need to contact the phone company or the collection agency, thanks alot.

Our laws in the US are different from Australian laws and most of the members here are from US. We don't really know much about the laws in Australia. Sorry.
