I just feel a little overwhelmed here, I have read, read some more, and re-read stuff but I just REALLY need to get this right because I don't want to shoot myself in the foot or make hasty decisions! Not to sound like an idiot but here is the run down; I got all 3 reports, I have opted out, and I have updated/removed as much personal info. as possible. Current scores are all around 575, I want to be at a 620 or greater a year from now. MAIN GOAL IS HOME OWNERSHIP. I have a bunch of good marks, and just got approved for a capital one card so things are improving and I have had a current auto loan for the past four months. There about 15 negatives to fix! It seems like a daunting task, but I have faith. I got 3 active collection accounts, 1 is out of SOL (January 2006), the other two are still within SOL. Do I try the 1-2 punch?? or just dispute??? I have 5 student loans which came up as negative for being 60 days late in 2008, now they are marked as current but deferred. I'm guessing my only option here would be a "goodwill letter" The remaining negatives are a mixture of: "Charge off as bad debt, purchased by another lender" "Payment after charge off/collection, Paid" "Settled for less than full balance" Do I just dispute them all and hope for best, or do a couple at a time to play things safe? |

For the collections, it's your decision whether you want to ask for validation or not. Disputing them could also wake up the sleeping giant. It's really up to you. For the student loans, you can dispute them as never late, then try a goodwill letter. Dispute the rest of them. It's up to you if you want to dispute them all at once or break it up into a couple. I don't think you have enough negatives to dispute to be considered frivolous.

Ok I think I will dispute all the negatives such as the charge offs and hope to have some removed and then attempt a 1-2 punch with two of these CA's? That seems to be my best bet I guess. Basically I just want to do this with the best chances of getting some of this crap off my reports and boost my score up a bit. I disputed my personal information, and received results back that the requested items were removed/updated. Do I need to wait the 35 days before filing another dispute with the CRA's regarding these negative items?? If so that kinda sucks, because I was hoping to get the ball rolling, now it seems as if I will be pushed back a month before making any more progress. |

Also what would the CRA's flag as a frivolous dispute?? How many would I have to dispute in your opinion? I marked 6 student loans as never late and then another 6 items which I listed with no reasons given |
