I disputed a student loan TA with Equifax. The investigation came back verified. They told me to contact the company directly for more information. Problem is the phone # listed on my CR is disconnected. Which leads me to wonder how they verified it in such a short amount of time. So I sent a request for method of verification in which I indicated that the contact information provided was not accurate. They sent back a letter stating they reinvestigated my dispute, which I did not ask for…just method of verification. I sent these letters CM by the way. What is my next step? Do I overnight a letter and cc their legal department? I know as a consumer I have rights and they are blatantly disregarding them. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Ok here is the deal. the reason that they just reinvestigated it is because they are all on auto pilot over there. They send all the letters off shore to be processed and then they just send out whatever form letter they think would work for that situation (even if it doesn't quite fit). They can investigate things fairly quickly because they have a digital connection with all the creditors that report to you. When you think of investigating a credit mistake you might think of a private eye, but they don't make any money on complying with the law so they try to automate as much as they can. |
