Can OC report a debt as charge off and with a balance?

Hi,

I just looked through my credit report. It has three credit cards that has gone to collection. Two of the show a $0 balance which I guess is because they have been sold to a CA. However, one of them still shows a balance even though this one also has been sold to collection. This card is hurting my score quite a bit because of this. My question is: Can a OC report a balance on a debt that has been sold to a CA?

Yes, I believe they can. You can try disputing the balance, but that won't change much. It's best to ask them to remove it.

Is there really any change of getting a OC removed from he credit report though? I can see how a CA can have difficulties verifying a debt, but a OC must have records of a debt that they can easily get their hands on if disputed.

Yes, millions get removed every year.

The OC may show it as paid, but they won't remove it just because it was paid. You must dispute it to have a chance for removal.
