Default Help! Need to raise my midscore just a few!

Hi All,

First of all, I'd like to say a big "thank you" to everyone on this forum. I've learned so much the past few months and have made a lot of progress on my scores.

I want to apply for a USDA mortgage soon. My TU score (from this site) is 660-something. My EQ score is 600. My EX score (from the EX site) is 600. I'd like to get that mid score up to 620. My income is $55k. I only have one monthly payment. It is $124. I also have an additional $12k in child support income. I have been at my job for 6.5 years. I have over 2 years worth of flawless rental history. I have a few collection accounts (all medical) which have been disputed and verified. I sent an MOV letter for all of them a couple of weeks ago. EQ is investigating, but I haven't received a reply from EX. The Cap1 chargeoff is due to an odd situation. My ex was withholding $200/mo from his child support payment for the purpose of paying credit card debt. He wasn't paying the Cap1 card and I didn't realize it until it went into chargeoff status. I paid the full amount immediately, but I know it is a big hit to my score. I have sent dozens of GW letters and emails to Cap1, but to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas to bring my score up quickly? Here is the breakdown of the open items on my report:

Have you tried disputing all negatives with the credit bureaus?

How many positive TLs do you have? How long have you had them?

I failed to mention that 2 of the 3 open accounts are AU accounts.

I received an Orchard Bank card a couple of months ago, but it hasn't reported yet. I've already paid the annual fee, so it should report as $0 (whenever it does report). The CL was only $300.

In addition, my dad added me as an AU to his Home Depot card about 4 months ago, but it never reported.

How are you disputing them? Online or by letter?

Most of them were disputed by letter. After the CRA verified them, I requested validation from the CA. Only one of them responded (49 days later). I sent Method of Verification letters to the CRA's. Equifax sent something stating they were investigating.

Since most of these are paid medical collections, I drafted a round of HIPAA letters to the OC's. For the 3 unpaid medical collections, I added a check payable to the OC, with the necessary addendum to the letter. The post office (in this "two-bit, one-horse" town) closes at noon on Saturday's, so I am not able to send them (CMRRR) until Monday.

Am I doing the right thing?

It sounds to me like you are. You can also try another round of disputes. I don't know much about HIPAA. I need to study up on it when I find some time. It's Trish's area of expertise and I have not been able to get a hold of her.

Thanks, Chane!

I'll send the HIPAA letters on Monday. I'll keep everyone posted regarding my progress (or lack thereof).

Thumbs up Update!!

Well .... I had a lender pull my scores today, and guess what?? My mid-score is 687!!! I was trying to bring it up to 620 for a USDA mortgage. I'm not sure what happened. Myfico.com shows my TU score at 656, EQ at 598. Experian.com shows my score at 600. I updated the TU and EQ scores today and received a 656 and 598. I'm not sure what in the world happened, but I will certainly take it!!!:D

Six months ago, when I found this forum, my scores were in the upper 490's. Thank you, everyone for all of the help and advice!!
