I recently asked Bank of America to investigate an account that was closed. BofA bought the account from Citicard. I paid this account of about 4 years ago. After that time my wallet was lost and I called to cancel my credit cards. Well within that time the account was charged 7, 000. I called and told them that I wanted the account investigated. I received a letter stating that after a through investigation of my fraud claim, it has been determined that records indicate that I attempted to settle the outstanding balance thereby acknowledging my obligation to pay. This can not be. I paid the account off prior but I was not aware of a balance. The account should have been closed. What can I do about this?

Yes, I disputed online and it keeps coming back verified.

You should never dispute accounts online. Your chances are much better with dispute letters.
