Long and short of it, as a student I got in over my head when I was laid off and roughly 5 things went to collections. 2 were actually incorrect debts that I refused to pay because they were attempting to charge more than owed, one corrected the mistake recently (after months of going back and forth!) but the debt is still in collections. The other is still refusing to back down and has turned what should have been into a 300 dollar bill into close to 1,000 with collection fees (can they even do that?). The others were medical bills, and in one case a stupid movie that I forgot to return to Blockbuster. :o I'm now working 2 jobs so I can afford to pay all these back (even I suppose the one I thoroughly dispute) but should I pay the money to the original creditors or the collection agencies. I basically want to remove collections and charge-offs if possible so what is the easiest way to go about this? Any help is greatly appreciated!!! :D |

You should first go through the dispute process: Basic Step by Step Beginner's Guide to Credit Repair Then, negotiate pay for deletes with the accounts that don't get deleted: How To "Pay For Delete" Let us know if you get stuck or need help. Good luck!
